Musings

Riddle of the day

Summer is here, and it's time for some more riddles.

Riddle of the day:

Dangerous to behold,
I am shunned by some,
but sought by many.

Although I am ancient,
I rise with the birds
and travel through the day.

Riddle of the day

It's been a few days since I last posted a riddle, but I still plan to keep them coming.

Riddle of the day:

Defender against a fearsome foe,
this man will always go.
Battling the elemental dance,
where the waters flow.

Riddle of the day

Riddle of the day:

My first is a colour,
my second a fruit,
my whole makes a man
for whom you'll root.

Riddle of the day

I've had no answers proposed for the last couple of riddles, although I must admit yesterday's is probably obscure unless you're a physicist (I have had the odd request for more physics ones).

Yesterday's riddle has got me thinking about riddles involving brothers, though. There is a traditional one which starts with 'two brothers are we.' I will have to think of one involving three, but here goes one with a few more...

Rings flash in the light,
As the five brothers stand on a ridge,
One points the way,
but another opposes all.

Riddle of the day

Riddle of the day:

Four brothers are we,
although once we were one.
Many seek a way
For that to be undone.

The first is imprisoned,
the second pale and wan,
the third sees all,
the fourth stopped by none.
